When people find out that they need cataract surgery, many questions come to mind. There are many things that patients need to understand before they have cataract surgery.
Patients need to understand that there are three types of cataract surgery: Phacoemulsification, Extracapsular cataract surgery and Intracapsular cataract surgery. Phacoemulsification is a minimally invasive procedure that requires no stitches and can be performed under minimal sedation. It is performed by taking a small incision and removing the cataract.
Extracapsular cataract surgery on patients who have very advanced cataracts. It is performed by taking a large incision and removing the cataract. Patients who have this surgery require more anesthesia and have a longer recovery time. Intracapsular cataract surgery is also performed on patients who have advanced cataracts. This surgery involves a large incision and the removal of the entire lens. This surgery is the most risky of the three and doctors very rarely elect to perform it.
You also need to find the best doctor in your area, and you should definitely do some research online. If you’re from Melbourne, you should look up cataract surgery Melbourne and go through the results to learn more about possible options for your surgery. (more…)

In the world of supplements, protein and nitric oxide are two kings. Both of these supplements should be in your daily routine. If you are trying to add mass, there is simply no reason not to include these in your daily regimen.
Protein is needed at every meal, and for those who are attempting to add mass there are at least six meals a day. Trying to get to those six meals is often an inconvenience so meal replacements such as protein bars (for more information see www.aminoz.com.au/protein-bars-c-63.html) have exploded in popularity. These are not candy as some people think. (more…)

With the hustle and bustle of life today, it is hard to eat a well balanced diet. The USDA recommends several servings of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains and lean meats per day in order to keep a person healthy and fit, but all of those servings are hard to eat between work, the gym and time with family and friends. The key to nutrition for many people lies in their vitamin intake, and since fast food is devoid of many essential vitamins, most people do not get anywhere near enough. (more…)

Relaxation techniques help calm the nerves and ease up stress. According to a wise old Chinese saying, “Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” This means our lives are constantly in a state of stress. But the natural state of the body should be relaxation. The body wants to go back to its natural relaxed state but the tension you harbor within yourself prevents it from doing so.
Dealing with stress is a normal part of life. As a matter of fact, we all need a certain amount of stress to push us to do our best. But if the body incurs too much stress, the result could be dire. Some people handle stress by bottling their emotions or getting too emotional. Either of these responses is not good. This can lead to a host of other problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure or heart ailment. (more…)

HIV in itself is not a disease, but a virus which affects a person’s immune system. Without a proper diagnosis someone who had the virus which causes AIDS will experience a diminishing of their body’s ability to fight off illnesses which someone with a healthy immune system can ward off easily. Exposure to the AIDSvirus will cause a person to be infected immediately, even if they feel perfectly fine. HIV is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person through unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and blood transfusions.
Some of the earliest symptoms of HIV infection are rash, thrush, flu-like symptoms, and swollen glands. These can occur within weeks of infection. Many people who are infected with the HIV virus do not exhibit any symptoms at all in the early stages. As the virus progresses, other symptoms can include sores, cuts, or bruises that do not properly heal, opportunistic infections, and the acceleration of diseases such as cancer. In the final stages of HIV infection a person will develop full-blown AIDS, which is usually characterized when the white blood cell count falls below 100. (more…)

Physiological causes of sexual dysfunction
In patients with Parkinson’s disease sexual dysfunction usually begnis after four motor impairments have arisen. This may include decreased libido, orgasm problems, and also in men erectile dysfunction or ejaculation problems. These sexual problems may be age-related (similar to Parkinson’s disease increases the risk of erectile dysfunction over the 50 year) or relate to the disease itself. Dopamine plays an important role in libido and in the development of an erection. Hence, the reduced dopamine production in Parkinson’s patients may have a negative impact on their sexuality. But let us also not forget the symptoms of Parkinson’s, because those are not really conducive to a good sex life. The most troublesome are undoubtedly: tremor, hypertonia (increased muscle tone) and akinesia (reduced and slowed movements). Psychological causes include depression and low self-esteem (especially in women), which in turn have a negative effect on the libido.
